Censorship in America

Project Censored has recently published its list of the top 25 censored stories for 2009 (yeah, I don't know why they say 2009, but whatever...)

You can see the list here: http://www.projectcensored.org/top-stories/category/y-2009/

Andrew,

Found your blog! It's a good read.

I followed this link you posted. One question: do you know how this site is defining censorship? In some circles, that means the govt. canned a story and forcibly kept it from airing; in other circles, the media turned a collective blind eye.

Just curious.

Thanks, Jim!

As to your question, here is how Project Censored describes their list:

"Project Censored conducts research on important national news stories that are underreported, ignored, misrepresented, or censored by the US corporate media."

So, that doesn't get to a complete one-size-fits-all definition, but sounds like some sort of "all of the above" kinds of censorship you mention.

Good question though. For more about them, see the "about" section of their website.

I simply found the site interesting, and haven't yet read through all the stories they link to.
